LIVE FILM SCORE BY GEOFF GERSH (Guitar/Electronics) *** Special Event Price: $15*** A silent, black and white movie produced in 1925. A mysterious phantom haunts the Opera of Paris. He threatens famous lyric singer, Carlotta, forcing her to give up her role to unknown Christine Daae. Eventually, Christine meets the masked phantom in the catacombs, where he resides. Considered a classic horror film. Since 2012, NYC based Geoff Gersh (guitar/electronics) has created and performed live scores for dozens of films, with the ensembles Black Lodge, Reel Orchestrette, Order of the Illusive and as a soloist, at venues in and around NYC including Nitehawk Cinema, Alamo Drafthouse, Film Noir Cinema, Cinema on the Sound as well as the Linda in Albany, TSL in Hudson, Tinker St. Cinema in Woodstock, Upstate Films in Saugerties, Proctors Theater in Schenectady and Epsilon Spires in Brattleboro, VT. Geoff takes a modern approach to live scoring using the sounds of experimental and ambient music (ie. Can, Mogwai, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Sunn 0))) ) to bring the experience of silent film to contemporary audiences.
